Hello and welcome to the Mackerel podcast.

This is an introduction to a series of three conversations that focuses on being on an island. In a situation such as this global pandemic that we’re in, what could be more perfect than being on an island? Cut off from covidiots and with plenty of sunshine and sand between your toes and beautiful sunsets to see you though the madness.

Well. It depends on which island you’re on.

The first of these conversations takes us to the island of Siargao in the Philippines where alternative healer and guided meditation practitioner, Michelle Villarossa, is. Villarossa tells us about how she’s using her skills to help herself, and others, to stave off anxiety.

Then, we Messenger-call our way to Gili Trawangan in Indonesia to speak with Ashleigh Sanderson, a horseriding instructor extraordinaire. Sanderson and her rescue kitten, Batty, tell us how they create structure in their day and the secret to eternal life.

Finally, we shoot the breeze with artist and ideas-factory, Yen Phang, here in Singapore.

We’d also like to apologise in advance if the recording isn’t always seamless. But still, god bless technology.

The first of these conversations airs on Wednesday 03 June 2020.
